Roleplay Styles
On G.A.I.A. just like any other role playing site people do not always use the same style of role playing or writing styles. This sometimes is capable of causing issues. As such here following is a description of common styles and how they might cause conflict.
Open-Ended RP: Open ended role play is when a character writes in a way that makes it seem as if a character is simply attempting the actions in their post. For example, Player A tried to swing a fist towards Player B in hopes of slamming it into his face. God-Modding and the like can still occur when using this rp style, if they constantly never let what they are attempting to go off track.
Close-Ended RP: Close ended role play is when a character states what they are doing as if it is happening, and not just they are attempting the act. (For example, Player A brought a fist up and slammed it into Player B face hard.) Just because a player writes as if their action is happening this does not mean that is automatically god-modding, they can be cut off mid-action and forced to change course of what they had written depending on what happens. However if they do not allow this to happen even against logical it can quickly move into that territory.
Mixed RP: This is when a character over the course of a post flip between the two other types of rp styles. This is often used that when a character is not preforming an action they expect to be interrupted in (such as greeting someone) as close ended, while actions that are likely to be forced to change such as during conflict in a open ended style.
